Yeah, I was kinda wondering the same thing, but I'm traveling this week and my
mind was a bit fuzzy when I was looking at the patch so I figured I was simply
missing something.

Regardless, it shouldn't break anything and since it is in the preprocessor
there is no runtime penalty, and arguably it does add some extra "protection".
